Courtesy meeting of Russian Ambassador Novikov with National Assembly Chairperson Dahal
Kathmandu, October 22. Aleksei Novikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nepal, had a courtesy meeting with the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal.
Ambassador Novikov paid a courtesy visit to Chairperson Dahal's office at Singha Darbar today (Tuesday).
During the meeting, there was a discussion on the relations between the two countries, cooperation, cooperation and exchange of parliamentary experience.
In the meeting, Chairperson Dahal said that Nepal-Russia relations have been good since the past and expressed his belief that people-to-people relations will further strengthen the relations between the two countries. Referring to the formation of the Nepal-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Federal Parliament of Nepal, Chairperson Dahal said that the friendship group will facilitate parliamentary relations, exchange of experience and exchange of visits between the two countries.
In addition to asking Nepali students to increase the number of scholarships for studying in Russia, Chairperson Dahal also asked to initiate direct flights between Kathmandu and Moscow.
While urging Russian investors to invest in Nepal's agriculture, technology and energy sectors, Chairperson Dahal also requested to promote Nepal's tourism and tell the Russian citizens about the environment of visiting Nepal.
Expressing interest in the phenomenon of Nepali citizens joining the Russian army through various means after the Russia-Ukraine war, Chairperson Dahal reminded the request of the Nepalese government to the Russian government.
On that occasion, Ambassador Novikov said that the relationship between the two countries is harmonious and mutual interest, exchange of support and cooperation should be increased.
Mentioning that the potential of tourism in Nepal is very good, he said that Russia is building a Buddhist monastery in Lumbini and after the completion of the project, the number of religious tourists from Russia will increase.
Ambassador Navikov said that Nepal can earn good income from hydropower generation and that Russian investors are willing to invest in power generation in Nepal. On that occasion, he said that Russia will work in Nepal in the fields of hydropower generation, expansion of air services, joint flight in space, technology, etc.
Ambassador Novikov said that 42 students are currently studying on full scholarships in Russia. Mentioning that there is a plan to increase the number of scholarships to 200 in a short time, he said that it will help to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
Ambassador Novikov said that he is taking initiatives for the expansion of Nepal-Moscow direct air service and said that it is not a difficult matter to start direct air service if the Nepalese government takes more initiatives.
