Message from Rt. Hon. Chairperson of Upper House Narayan Prasad Dahal on the occassion of Ubhauli
On the occasion of Ubhauli, the great festival of the Kirant community, I express my best wishes to all the Nepalese people living in the country and abroad as well as to the sisters and brothers of the Kirant community. I believe that this festival will play an important role in strengthening cultural and social harmony and national unity.
Our country is an independent nation with multi-religious, multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic characteristics. The constitution itself has given equal rights to different castes, religions, cultures and communities. Different castes, religions and communities have their own cultures, traditions and festivals that reflect our diversity. Unity within diversity is the identity of us being Nepalese.
Ubhauli festival is celebrated by worshiping the land to avoid natural calamities and to have a good harvest. The tradition of making the most of the land by making nature happy is not only from the point of view of culture, but this festival is also more inspiring and informative for our agricultural country. I believe that Ubhouli festival will inspire all of us to protect and enrich nature as well as to protect and preserve the federal democratic republican constitution obtained by the sacrifices of all Nepalese people.
I wish this festival to further strengthen the national unity with the protection and promotion of language, art and culture of all classes, genders and communities.
